Made to measure kitchen doors let you choose the look of your kitchen while keeping the cabinet system that suits your budget and layout. You can build a new kitchen using IKEA cabinets, or replace the doors and drawer fronts on an existing kitchen if the cabinets are still in good condition.
Ordering online works best when you have a complete parts list. The design and colour matter, but so do the cabinet system, dimensions, opening direction, hinge drilling and finishing panels. A missing side panel can hold up installation just as easily as a door in the wrong size.
This guide follows the amadlo configurator from the first selection to delivery and installation. The screenshots use one example: a Pomelo left-opening door for IKEA METOD, in natural oak veneer, with a matching veneered handle insert.

How do you buy made to measure kitchen doors online?
Prepare your kitchen plan and parts list, confirm which cabinet system you have, then configure each door, drawer front and panel. Choose the design, material, finish, size and handle option. Check the complete basket, enter your contact and delivery details, and review the supplier’s order terms before placing the order. Arrange installation around the confirmed delivery date.
For IKEA kitchens, order the cabinet frames and internal fittings from IKEA, and the custom fronts and matching finishing pieces from your fronts supplier. Check hardware responsibilities before removing hinges or other fittings from your IKEA order.
Are you building a new kitchen or replacing the doors?
A new kitchen with IKEA cabinets
Start with the layout. Use the IKEA UK kitchen planning tools to position cabinets, appliances and worktops, and produce an itemised list. Check room measurements, appliance clearances and service connections before buying the cabinets.
If you plan to use amadlo fronts, leave the IKEA doors, drawer fronts and decorative finishing panels out of the cabinet order. Keep the structural and internal components your kitchen needs. amadlo’s IKEA cabinet doors guide identifies hinges among the parts supplied by IKEA, so do not remove them simply because you are buying doors elsewhere.
| Component | Where to source it for this approach |
|---|---|
| Cabinet frames, shelves and internal fittings | IKEA |
| Suspension rails, legs and drawer runners | IKEA, according to the kitchen plan |
| Hinges | IKEA, after checking compatibility and quantities |
| Doors and drawer fronts | amadlo |
| Matching cover panels, plinths and fillers | amadlo, based on the layout |
| Handles and knobs | Confirm the chosen design and supplier; integrated handles may be configured with the front |
Replacement kitchen doors for existing cabinets
Replacing the fronts makes sense when the cabinet boxes are sound, level and suitable for the layout you want to keep. Inspect the cabinets for water damage, loose joints and worn fixing points before ordering replacement kitchen doors.
Identify the cabinet system rather than relying on appearance. IKEA METOD and the older FAKTUM system are separate choices in the configurator. For other manufacturers, check dimensions, hinge positions and drawer attachment details with the supplier. A door that is the correct width can still be incompatible with the existing fittings.
How to order kitchen doors online in 10 steps
1. Prepare a kitchen plan and an itemised parts list
Give every component a position on the plan: for example, base cabinet B1, left door; B2, three drawer fronts; tall cabinet T1, two doors. Record the size, quantity, opening direction and finish for each piece.
Include visible side panels, end panels, fillers and plinths. Check integrated appliance fronts against the appliance installation instructions. For an existing kitchen, photograph the fittings and measure the current fronts as well as the cabinets. Ask the supplier which dimensions they require before submitting custom measurements.
Keep your measurements in one unit. The IKEA size selector shown below uses centimetres; a supplier’s custom drawing may use millimetres. Never assume that a cabinet’s nominal size is the exact finished size of its door.
2. Open the configurator and choose the cabinet system
Open the amadlo product configurator. Choose IKEA for compatible IKEA fronts, or Custom for a project that requires another specification.

For IKEA, select the correct product type. The configurator shows METOD, FAKTUM and PAX. This kitchen example uses METOD; PAX is a wardrobe system.

The configurator runs on Fronts Form, software that lets furniture brands present front designs, materials, sizes and prices in an online ordering flow. For the buyer, it brings those choices into one place. Compatibility still needs checking against the actual kitchen.
3. Choose the door design
Compare the designs before choosing the surface. The configurator includes flat, framed, fluted and integrated-handle styles. Think about how the design will look across small drawers, wide doors and tall units, rather than judging it from one sample image.

Our example uses Pomelo, which has a recessed handle detail. That choice affects the handle options shown later. If you prefer separate knobs or pulls, confirm whether the front needs handle drilling and who will do it.
4. Select the material and finish
Material availability depends on the design. For Pomelo, the example screen offers natural oak veneer, painted MDF and stained oak veneer. The wider amadlo range also includes other surfaces; check the materials page for the current selection.

Then select the colour or finish. Our example uses natural oak. Look at a physical sample in your kitchen, beside the worktop, floor and wall finish. Screen settings and room lighting can change how a colour appears. Natural veneer also varies in grain, so discuss the arrangement of adjacent fronts if the grain pattern matters to you.

5. Select each component type and size
Configure doors, drawer fronts and finishing pieces as separate items. Choose the opening direction where the configurator asks for left or right doors. Check that it matches your plan, especially near walls, corners and appliances.

For our METOD example, we select a left door, 60 cm wide and 80 cm high. Use the supplier’s system-specific options for IKEA fronts. For a custom front, confirm the finished dimensions, gaps, thickness and drilling requirements in writing.

6. Choose handles and confirm the hardware
For the Pomelo example, the configurator offers metal, painted and veneered inserts. We select a veneered insert in natural oak to match the front.

Confirm what the order includes beyond the front itself. Separate pulls, knobs, hinges, screws and mounting plates should appear on your parts list with a named supplier. For non-IKEA cabinets, amadlo’s published guidance says hinge drilling needs separate attention; do not assume the IKEA drilling arrangement applies.
7. Review the basket and the complete cost
Add each configured component, set its quantity and compare the basket with your numbered plan. Check repeated items carefully. Ten identical doors may have the right total quantity while still missing a required right-opening door.

In the example captured for this guide, the door costs €202.40 before the displayed VAT, or €244.90 including 21% VAT. The cart also shows a minimum product subtotal of €2,000, with shipping calculated at the next step. Check the current minimum before planning a small replacement order.
For a UK or another European delivery address, obtain the complete destination-specific quote. Confirm the currency, shipping charge, applicable tax treatment and any import-related charges before payment. Do not treat the example’s Latvian checkout settings as your final total.
8. Enter contact, billing and delivery details
After reviewing the basket, continue to the customer details screen. Select whether you are ordering privately or for a company, then enter the name, email address and telephone number the supplier should use for the order.

Choose Delivery or Pickup. For delivery, enter the destination country, street, postcode and town. Check whether the billing address matches the delivery address.

These checkout screenshots use a demonstration basket of ten identical doors to show the form beyond the minimum order threshold. They are not a recommended parts list. No order was submitted for this guide.
Read the order terms and privacy information, then review the final specification and total before placing your order. Confirm how payment and production approval work with the supplier. Keep a copy of the parts list, agreed drawings and order confirmation.
9. Arrange delivery or collection
Ask for the production lead time and delivery estimate for your specific order. The configurator displayed a lead time of six to eight weeks when these screenshots were taken, but dates can change with material availability and the order specification. Confirm the schedule before booking an installer.
For delivery, ask about access requirements and the unloading arrangement. For pickup, confirm the location, appointment and vehicle space needed for the packed fronts. Check the number of packages on arrival, inspect the goods and keep labels with their matching components. Contact the supplier promptly if anything is damaged or missing.
Accurate specifications also matter in production. Gauya Furniture manufactures cabinet doors, drawer fronts and panels to specification for furniture and kitchen brands. The buyer’s plan should therefore identify the component, finish and drilling requirements clearly. Confirm the manufacturing and fulfilment arrangements for your amadlo order directly with amadlo.
10. Install the fronts and adjust the fittings
Decide who will install the fronts before ordering. This gives the installer time to check the plan and identify any hardware or drilling requirements.
| Installation option | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| An installer arranged by the supplier | Whether the service is available at your address, its scope and its price |
| DIY installation | Your ability to fit and adjust hinges, attach drawer fronts, handle panels and drill accurately where required |
| A third-party kitchen installer | Experience with the cabinet system, responsibility for measurements and fittings, and an agreed installation date |
Lay out the components against the plan before fitting them. Protect the finished surfaces, follow the cabinet and hardware instructions, and adjust the gaps after the doors and drawers are installed. Large panels and tall doors may need two people to handle them safely.
How much does it cost to replace kitchen cabinet doors?
The total depends on the number and size of fronts, the design, material, finish, handles, matching panels, delivery and installation. A small kitchen with several large doors can cost differently from a similar-sized kitchen with many drawers.
The configurator example gives a useful reference point:
| Example specification | Selected option |
|---|---|
| Cabinet system | IKEA METOD |
| Design and component | Pomelo left door |
| Nominal selector size | 60 × 80 cm |
| Material and finish | Natural oak veneer, natural oak |
| Handle | Veneered insert, natural oak |
| Product price before displayed VAT | €202.40 |
| Displayed VAT at 21% | €42.50 |
| Total for one example door | €244.90, before shipping |
This price was checked on 11 October 2026. It is an example, not a quote for your kitchen. The cart’s €2,000 minimum applies to the product subtotal shown in the example. Ask amadlo about your options if you only need one replacement front.
To compare suppliers fairly, request prices for the same complete parts list. Include panels, fillers, plinths, hardware, delivery and fitting. A lower door price may not produce a lower finished kitchen cost.
What should you check before placing the order?
| Check | What should be confirmed |
|---|---|
| Cabinet system | The actual manufacturer and system, including METOD or FAKTUM where relevant |
| Parts list | Every door, drawer front, panel, filler and plinth appears on the plan and in the basket |
| Dimensions | Correct units and supplier-approved sizes for each item |
| Door direction | Left and right openings match the layout |
| Appliances | Front dimensions and fixing requirements match the appliance instructions |
| Material and finish | A sample has been checked; grain preferences are discussed |
| Drilling and hardware | Hinge holes, handle holes and drawer attachments are agreed; fittings have a supplier |
| Total cost | Minimum order, shipping, taxes and any destination-related charges are understood |
| Timing | Production, delivery or collection and installation dates are coordinated |
| Order record | You retain the final specification and order confirmation |
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy IKEA kitchen cabinets without the doors?
Plan the kitchen using the frames and internal components you need, then remove the IKEA fronts and decorative finishing pieces that your custom supplier will provide. Check the final IKEA parts list so that required hinges, runners, rails and legs remain included.
Can I replace the doors without replacing the kitchen cabinets?
Yes, if the cabinet boxes are sound and the replacement fronts suit their dimensions and fittings. Inspect the cabinets first. New doors will not fix damaged frames or an unsuitable layout.
How do I measure for replacement kitchen doors?
Identify the cabinet system and record each existing front’s width, height and opening direction. Photograph the hinge and drawer fittings. For custom cabinets, ask the supplier for its measurement and drilling requirements before approving the sizes.
Can I order custom cabinet doors for a kitchen that is not IKEA?
The amadlo configurator includes a Custom option. Confirm the full specification with amadlo, including dimensions, thickness, hinge positions and drawer attachments. Prepared IKEA drilling should not be assumed for another cabinet system.
Are handles and hinges included?
It depends on the design and order. The example’s Pomelo handle insert is configured with the door. Separate handles and hinges need their own check. amadlo’s IKEA guidance lists hinges among the components sourced from IKEA.
Can I order just one kitchen door?
Check the minimum order first. The cart used for this guide displayed a €2,000 product minimum, so one example door did not qualify for online checkout. Contact amadlo about a small replacement or an addition to an earlier order.
Should I order a material sample?
Yes. Compare it with your worktop and other finishes in the room’s daylight and artificial light. Ask amadlo about sample availability through the contact page.
How long do made to measure kitchen doors take?
The configurator showed six to eight weeks when checked for this guide. Confirm the lead time for your materials and order, and ask whether the quoted time includes transport. Book installation against the confirmed schedule.
Can I collect my order instead of having it delivered?
The checkout offers Pickup as well as Delivery. Confirm the collection location, availability date, packaging dimensions and loading arrangements with amadlo before choosing it.
Can I install the kitchen doors myself?
DIY fitting is possible if you have the right tools and experience with the cabinet system. Confirm any drilling work in advance. Use an installer if you are unsure about appliance fronts, large panels or fitting unfamiliar hardware.
Common ordering mistakes
- Selecting METOD for an existing FAKTUM kitchen without checking the system.
- Entering the cabinet size where the supplier requires the finished front dimensions.
- Mixing centimetres and millimetres in a custom parts list.
- Counting the doors but forgetting drawer fronts, exposed panels, fillers or plinths.
- Removing hinges from the IKEA order without arranging compatible replacements.
- Choosing a finish from a screen image without checking a sample.
- Comparing prices before adding delivery, fitting and the required finishing pieces.
- Booking installation before the supplier confirms the delivery schedule.
Ask for a specification check while changes are still possible. Correcting a parts list before production is much easier than discovering the wrong opening direction during installation.
