Is replacing the fronts right for your kitchen?

Front replacement is worth considering when the boxes are stable and the doors are worn or no longer suit your room. Check for loose fixings, water damage and distorted panels first. If the structure or layout needs substantial work, compare repairs and new fronts with a wider renovation. Include exposed sides, fillers and plinths when planning the finished appearance.

Check compatibility: METOD, FAKTUM or another system

Use the original order, planner file or cabinet labels to identify your kitchen. The amadlo configurator offers IKEA METOD and FAKTUM choices; check the available items and sizes for your system. Do not choose a system from appearance alone. For other or unknown cabinets, send photographs and fitting details for a compatibility check before ordering. PAX is a wardrobe system and requires a separate door specification.

What does a replacement kitchen door cost?

A verified example from 24 September 2026: one Molto left door for IKEA METOD, painted MDF in White, 60 × 80 cm size option, with a painted profile handle in White, displayed a total of €225.06 including estimated VAT in the configurator. The tool showed €39.06 VAT at 21%; no discount code was applied.

This is one configured door, not a whole-kitchen price. Delivery and the final destination-dependent checkout total were not included in this check. Check the current price for your configuration. Nominal cabinet-size options can differ from actual manufactured front dimensions.

List all doors and drawer fronts with sizes and quantities.
Add appliance panels, cover panels, fillers and plinths where needed.
Check handles, drilling and any replacement hardware.
Allow for delivery and fitting, and check what the quoted total includes.

Compare designs and finishes

Choose the profile and material together: available finishes depend on the design. Enkel has a plain face; Molto uses a rounded profile; Delta has a fluted surface. Painted MDF offers a consistent colour; oak veneer brings natural grain and variation.

Compare the face, edge, handle and cleaning requirements as well as the overall photograph. Ask about finish samples to judge colour and texture in your own light. For a painted finish, confirm the colour code and sheen; do not match a colour from a photograph alone.

Measure and prepare your order

Give each door, drawer front and panel a location and record width, height, quantity and opening direction.
Distinguish actual front measurements in millimetres from nominal cabinet-size selections in centimetres. Do not round measurements or substitute one for the other without confirmation.
Record hinge type, drilling positions and drawer attachments; photograph the reverse of an existing front.
Identify integrated appliances and their panel-fixing and clearance requirements.
Send the list and photographs for review if any system, size or drilling detail is uncertain.

Plan delivery and installation

Confirm current production and transport times for your selected products and destination before booking installation. Check delivered parts against the order before removing the old fronts. Follow the instructions for the exact cabinet system, hinges, drawer fittings and appliance panels, and protect finished edges during handling. Ask a fitter for help with drilling or adjustments you cannot confidently carry out.

Questions before ordering

Can I keep the existing hinges? Possibly, but confirm their condition, type and compatibility with the new drilling. Keeping the cabinets does not mean every fitting can be reused.

Can I replace only some fronts? Check current ordering conditions and consider whether the new finish will match the remaining doors, especially with aged paint or natural wood.
